Any teacher will tell you that you never have a classroom filled with students who learn the same way, so expecting them to is setting them up for failure. Differentiated instruction is all about customizing instruction, which can be difficult and daunting for teachers who are facing new challenges, standards, and expectations. While differentiating instruction may seem like a no-brainer for educators, teachers and principals must make the connection between technological tools and differentiated instruction in order to successfully integrate this practice into their schools and classrooms.

Bullying remains a critical issue that requires the attention of an entire school. What’s more, bullies are no longer just a handful of students on the playground or in the classroom—cyberbullying has arguably created more dangerous bullies fortified with the illusion of anonymity acting behind a username can bring. Visuals are a great way to differentiate instruction for students of all learning abilities, especially students with disabilities. We recently came across a super useful and creative website, The Autism Helper, which offers a blog with plenty of classroom tips, personal testimonials, printables, and lesson ideas from Sasha Long. The article below (all text and images) is a March 18th blog post titled "Using Anchor Charts in an Autism Classroom." There are plenty of other great posts like this one on the website, as well as posted on The Autism Helper's Pinterest account! The anchor charts shown and suggested could easily be made and customized using our Poster Maker or Perfecta.

The phrase “student engagement” is used frequently in the realm of the education, but has this frequency led to the dilution of its meaning? ASCD’s Inservice hosted a number of guest bloggers during their Student Engagement Week in April, and we were thrilled and inspired by the depth of research and the breadth of suggestions.
