Well folks, it's almost Labor Day weekend, which means the start of the school year is a) days away or b) already underway! If you're still looking for a few activities and resources to fill out the next couple weeks, don't fret! We have compiled some of our favorites. Enjoy, and best of luck with the new school year!
Figure Me Out! Beginning of the Year Math
A great way to get students talking about themselves while getting back into the habit of daily math exercises, this activity can be altered for any grade level and can be spread over the span of a week.
Engage students with meaningful questions about the upcoming school year by posting questions on large posters then letting them fill in their own answers. This will hopefully spark discussion and help define classroom management.
Go over classroom procedures, rules, and expectations with fun and memorable memes. Create your own or use these for inspiration! Works great for older students.
Get students moving and answering questions with this fun beach ball game! Change up the questions, add another ball, have fun!
This game is perfect for a big group - a version of the "this or that" game, ask students questions about themselves and let them see what they have in common with their classmates!
Give students individual goal setting responsibility by having them write their goal for the year, then create a community of goals by posting them as pictured here!
