Putting together lesson plans is no easy task. Putting together lesson plans that students will need to complete at home due to virtual or hybrid learning is even harder. And putting together take-home lesson plans for distance learning to help students with a special need like English Language Learners (ELL) might be the hardest of all.

As we navigate our 2020 holiday season where many educators are having to adapt and plan for the upcoming inevitable, you may be trying to gather all the tools you can, to create an arsenal of activities that accomplish your curriculum - but can be done from home. We've partnered with Cathy Henry from Free Word Work and The Curriculum Corner to put together some lesson plans and activities that you can use, especially for distance learning.

This activity can be modified to fit any age level. It is designed for children learning English, but can also be helpful for children learning to read. It involves labeling items around the house and practicing reading, writing, and drawing them.

Using cutout shapes of basic household items like tables, chairs, bathtubs, and more - you'll send materials home with students to practice their reading, writing, and creativity. Complete with a printable booklet, letter for families, and preparation instructions, we know you'll appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of this activity!

The VariQuest Cutout Maker 1800, paired with our Engage Every Learnerâ„¢ Content, can create lots of these cutouts quickly and easily - and the VariQuest Motiva® 400 Specialty Printing System is perfect for labeling students' take-home supplies. Request a no-obligation meeting to see live how our tools could save you tons of time and be a great fit in your school - both during distance learning, and beyond!
